According to the European Statistical Office, Braunschweig and the Region are leading European research locations. This is evidenced by the presence of major research institutes, the Technical University of Braunschweig, the Polytechnic College of Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel, the Technical University of Clausthal-Zellerfeld and many other institutions. All of them are vital elements of the entire Region.

Research and science, being both partners and sponsors, are constituents of the cultural profile of our city and accordingly they play a decisive role in our Culture Capital project.
