Greenhouse of Knowledge
The Kitchen of Ideas Braunschweig has got a focal point and a central meeting place at Domplatz, right in the city centre. The "Greenhouse of Knowledge" is the most important ingredient of the City of Science, making knowledge grow, providing for active exchanges and making the "City of Science 2007" visible and tangible.
Inside you will find a book exchange for scientific books and the Kitchen of Ideas Café (Ideenküchen-Café). The book exchange presents publications by Braunschweig's scientists. These can be exchanged for your own publications, whether poetry, prose or pure science.
Outside on the window panes, visitors can use their own movements to encourage plants to grow on special screens in an interactive artistic installation. The internationally acclaimed artists Christa Sommerer and Laurent Mignonneau developed the interactive plant software especially for Braunschweig's Kitchen of Ideas and named the project "Wissensgewächs" (Growth of Knowledge). The Greenhouse is the world's first open air installation created by the new media artists.
The Kitchen of Ideas Café is open daily from 11am - 7pm.
