The Concept Behind the Application: Braunschweig's Kitchen of Ideas
The Kitchen of Ideas has something to suit every taste:
The Starters tasted superb: unusual events have already given us a taste of the delicacies to come before the official launch of the Lead Up Programme for the "City of Science 2007". For example, the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt showed itself at the "height of time" in the night of 28th to 29th October and gave over 10,000 visitors a whole hour: visitors could see how "time is made" with atomic clocks.

The Main Course will follow in the Year of Science 2007: with events divided into five types of "recipe", there is something for every taste and every occasion. Would you like to try something?
"Business Lunches" stimulate meetings between science and business. For instance, scientists and business people meet at "Blind Dates".
With the "Dish of the Day" science meets the general public and comes face to face with people in their every day lives. In "Wissen findet Stadt" (Knowledge Takes Place), the Kitchen of Ideas has something simmering for four days in Braunschweig city centre and presents exciting highlights from the regional research scene.
The "Kids' Meal" concocts scientific delicacies for children and young people. In the "Flying Science Circus" that is heading for grammar schools, research is child's play. Young people can put their technical skills to the test in the "Tinkering Tournament".
"Colourful Dishes" combine science with art and culture. The experimental "Wissenschaftskonzerte" (Science Concerts) will tell you why violins are made of wood and trumpets of metal and will surprise you with impressive concerts.
Specialities: A nourishing exchange between experts is served up in the areas of competence in our region. For example during the "Kompetenztage" (Competence Days) which are primarily directed at specialist journalists. Interest is focussed on the regional core competences of mobility, communication, microproduction and research into infections at these events.
For Dessert try the "Haus der Wissenschaft" (House of Science) which is to be opened after the Year of Science, in the former Kanthochschule, centrally located in the university campus with a direct connection to Braunschweig city centre. The changing exhibitions, lectures and discussions taking place here will provide a place for intensive exchanges between science, business, culture and society in general in the long-term. .
